[August 12, 2009]  The Lincoln/Logan County Chamber of Commerce is announcing the 2009 Lincoln Art & Balloon Festival schedule of events. The new, complete schedule is available at the new and improved Lincoln Art & Balloon Festival Web site, www.lincolnillinois.com. The schedule includes exciting changes and some of our old favorites.

InsuranceThe 2009 festival will welcome the arrival of a large, new entertainment stage at the airport. On Friday, Aug. 28, crowds will be entertained by Glory Days, a fun, soulful Americana band. On Saturday, Aug. 29, the entertainment stage will be home to a railsplitting demonstration by the Logan Railsplitting Association, followed by the Country Mavericks, and headlining The Brat Pack, an '80s cover band with loads of character. Also new to the airport is wrestling, brought to you by Professional Wrestling Entertainment, starting at 5 p.m. on Saturday. With six matches, this fun, free family entertainment promises to thrill young and old. The airport will also have a carnival, remote-control airplane demonstration, helicopter rides, airplane rides and tethered balloon rides.

Exciting changes will take place in downtown Lincoln. The chamber has worked to develop activities and attractions to bridge the Lincoln Art Fair in Latham Park to the flea market and craft fair in Scully Park. The addition of the craft fair in Scully Park will enhance the downtown experience, while Kickapoo Street from Latham Park to Scully Park will be filled with family-friendly activity for young and old. The new Family Fun Park, The Art of Wine, quad bungee jump, 50-foot obstacle course, the Football Fun area and carriage rides will entertain as patrons travel the Kickapoo Street corridor from park to park.

Downtown will also have its own live entertainment. A hot-air balloon inflation is planned for Saturday, Aug. 29, at 11:30 a.m. at the corner of Kickapoo and Pulaski streets. This will be a great opportunity to ask all of your balloon questions and satisfy your curiosities. This cold-air inflation will allow for exploration into the heart of the balloon. Also on Saturday, the Logan Railsplitting Association will do a railsplitting demonstration at 1 p.m. at the Kickapoo and Pulaski corner. Latham Park will host the True Blue Barbershop Quartet on Saturday, and Scully Park will have the Country Mavericks on Saturday and the Amazing Elvis on Sunday.

For the first time, the chamber is producing and giving away an official Lincoln Art & Balloon Festival collector program. It is currently at press but can be viewed at www.lincolnillinois.com. The program is the official guide to everything about the Lincoln Art & Balloon Festival. The program will include a complete schedule of events, maps, directions, pilots and sponsor listings, full-color balloon pictorial, art fair listings and map, entertainment listings, and will include everything you need to know to make your weekend at the Lincoln Art & Balloon Festival a great experience.

"This program gave our local businesses a great opportunity to promote their services to 10,000 people attending the festival," said Andi Hake, executive director of the Lincoln/Logan County Chamber of Commerce.

The Lincoln Art & Balloon Festival is an important part of the mission of the chamber to serve the membership through a commitment to the economic prosperity of Lincoln and Logan County. The festival brings thousands of people to our community to stay in our hotels, eat in our restaurants and shop in our stores.
