Mount Pulaski Community Band to perform tonight

[August 12, 2009]  MOUNT PULASKI -- The Mount Pulaski Community Band, under the direction of Harry W. Hild, will give a concert at 7 tonight (Wednesday) at the new bandstand on the southeast side of the Mount Pulaski Courthouse lawn.

Another concert at the bandstand will be on Friday at 6:30 p.m. with the Prairie Aires. The Prairie Aires play Celtic music selections on acoustic instruments. They have played at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum in Springfield, for weddings and other special events in the area.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the music.

Upcoming concerts at the bandstand:

  • Saturday, Aug. 22, 7 p.m. -- Lesleigh Bennett, performing gospel music

  • Saturday, Sept. 12, 10:30 a.m. -- Bandstand dedication ceremony, with the 10th Illinois Regimental Band

Mount Pulaski organizations or groups such as Boy Scouts and youth groups are invited to do fundraisers at these concerts if they would like to.
