of... Lincoln in Lincoln tours return this weekend

Spirits of... Tours from
Bloomington once again has tours scheduled for Lincoln. Join them on
Friday for their Lincoln Ghost Walk. It will kick off at 8 p.m. from
the city christening site at the corner of Broadway and Chicago and
continue through the historic downtown district. The walk takes
approximately 90 minutes. Ticket price is $10. Spirits of... Tours
will continue their weekend in Lincoln with another paranormal
investigation -- this time at the famous Scully Mansion north of
Lincoln, on Saturday at 7:45 p.m. Tickets are $20. Spaces are
limited for both events and registration is required.

Spirits of...Tours will also be in Lincoln during the Lincoln Art &
Balloon Festival weekend. Aug. 27 they will participate in the
re-enactment of the christening of the city of Lincoln, which
occurred on Aug. 27, 1853. Chris Hotz will portray Abraham Lincoln
for the occasion. Re-enactments will be at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. on the
corner of Broadway and Chicago. For more information, call the Logan
County tourism office at 217-732-8687. This is a free event and the
public is encouraged to attend. The following night, Aug. 28,
Spirits of... Tours will offer another Lincoln Ghost Walk through
the historic downtown district of Lincoln, starting at 9 p.m.
A portion of the proceeds from the Scully Mansion investigation
will go toward The Mill on 66 restoration project, which is managed
by the nonprofit Route 66 Heritage Foundation of Logan County.

"The first investigation at The Mill 80th anniversary celebration
was great," said Geoff Ladd, foundation chairman. "We are looking
forward to working with Spirits of... Tours on future fundraising
investigations for The Mill." Further investigations at the site
have been postponed indefinitely while work is being done on the
building’s foundation and floor. Other local locations will be
investigated each month for the fundraising effort.
