[August 14, 2009]  The Abraham Lincoln Tourism Bureau of Logan County -- along with Larry Van Bibber and Paresh Patel of the Best Western Lincoln Inn -- is pleased to announce a new home for the Railsplitter Covered Wagon. The unique wagon will be moved from its home of many years near J & S Auto/Penache Boutique to its new home in the front yard of the Best Western Lincoln Inn in the very near future. Specifics on the time and date of the move are still to be announced.

The wagon, which is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the World's Largest Covered Wagon, was purchased for the tourism bureau through a donation from Lincoln resident Larry J. Van Bibber. He was on hand during the grand opening of the Best Western Lincoln yesterday to make the announcement of the move.

The wagon was created by David Bentley during his recovery from heart disease. Bentley wanted the wagon to be located in a community that was rich in both Abe Lincoln and Route 66 heritage, making Lincoln the perfect home. He also wanted the wagon to be located on Route 66, as it was in its original location in Divernon. The Best Western Inn on Route 66 in Lincoln has a nice grassy area for the wagon, which will also be close to the new Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital location.

The Abraham Lincoln Tourism Bureau of Logan County is very excited about the new home for the wagon. The bureau also extends a much-deserved thank you to J & S Auto/ Penache Boutique for allowing the wagon to call their area home for the last few years.
