[August 21, 2009]  KEYSER, W.Va. (AP) -- Sonny Gank was just doing his job when a passer-by spotted him prone on a sidewalk and thought he was in trouble.

Police said the passerby went to the Mineral County Sheriff's Department on Tuesday afternoon and reported a man lying on the sidewalk, apparently passed out or disabled. The sheriff's department notified 911, which alerted city police and emergency personnel.

They didn't find anyone when they arrived on the scene.

Gank later told police he was the man on the sidewalk. He is Keyser's water distribution supervisor and had been repairing a seal on an underground water meter.
