Police: Teen hires 3 to beat man over stolen pot

[August 22, 2009]  MONROE, Conn. (AP) -- An 18-year-old Connecticut woman was accused of retaliating against a man she said robbed her of marijuana by hiring three people to beat him up.

Police said they charged the woman with first-degree assault after the man who allegedly robbed her was beaten with baseball bats Wednesday. The victim, a 21-year-old man, was being treated at Bridgeport Hospital.

Authorities said th suspect hired a homeless man and two other teenagers to assault the man. Police said the woman lured the victim to a coffee shop, where he was confronted in the parking lot by the three hired hands who were wearing masks and carrying baseball bats.

Police said they arrived as the beating was going on and arrested all four people in the plot. All four were detained in lieu of bail.
