[August 24, 2009]  According to Recalls.org, a nonprofit organization, the following recalls were issued by various federal and state agencies during the week ending Aug. 22: 

RestaurantCOFFEEMAKERS 

Applica Consumer Products Inc. is recalling Black & Decker® Thermal Coffeemakers sold nationwide from April 2008 to July 2009. The coffeemakers can overheat and melt, posing a burn hazard. 

This recall involves Black & Decker 8-cup programmable thermal coffeemakers. Model number TCM1000IKT is printed on the rating plate on the bottom of the coffeemaker.

REMOTE SWITCHES 

Woodstock International is recalling Shop Fox Dust Collection Remote Switches sold nationwide from July 2008 to June 2009. An incorrectly sized wire inside the remote switch can overheat, posing a fire hazard.

The recalled product is a remote dust collector switch, which remotely turns on and off a woodworking dust collector. The electrical outlet box has a label that reads "Remote Dust Collector Switch". Both the electrical box and remote controls have "Shop Fox" molded into the plastic on the top side of the product. Model numbers D3038 & D3346 were printed on the carton but not on the remote control unit.

TABLE SAWS 

One World Technologies Inc. is recalling Ridgid 10-inch Table Saws sold exclusively at Home Depot stores from January 2009 to July 2009. The table saw's arbor shaft can fail when used with a stacked blade set (commonly known as a "stacked dado set"), which is used to cut grooves. The stacked blade set can be ejected from the saw, posing a potential laceration hazard. 

This recall involves Ridgid 10-inch table saws, model R4511. The recalled saws have manufacturing date codes between CD0829 and CD0837. The model number and manufacturing date code are located on a metal plate on the rear of the cabinet.

AMPLIFIERS 

Krell Industries LLC is recalling amplifiers sold nationwide from January 1997 to February 2001. The amplifiers were designed to operate at a temperature warm to the touch. However, a component input device can fail and cause the amplifiers to overheat, posing burn and fire hazards. 

This recall involves Krell power amplifiers with model numbers KAV-250a, KAV-250a/3, KAV-500i and KAV-1500. The amplifiers are used to provide power to a loudspeaker in a home audio playback system. The Krell logo is printed on the front of the amplifier.

CHILD TRAILERS 

Burley Design LLC is recalling 2009 d'lite ST and Solo ST Child Trailers sold nationwide from November 2008 to June 2009. The axle assembly's internal sleeve can loosen, causing one wheel to separate from the trailer. This poses a risk of injury to the child occupant or bike rider. 

Only the 2009 d'lite ST and 2009 Solo ST trailers with serial numbers that begin with D939 or D948 are included in the recall. The serial number is located in the rear cargo area behind the seat on the lower left rear frame tube. The trailers have "d'lite ST" or "solo ST" screen printed on the cover.

CYCLOCROSS BICYCLES 

Felt Bicycles is recalling 2007/2008 Felt F1X Cyclocross Bicycles sold nationwide from July 2006 to April 2009. The bicycle's fork steerer tube can break, causing the rider to lose control and fall, posing a risk of injury. 

The recall includes all 2007/2008 Felt F1X Cyclocross Bicycles. These bicycles are available in semimatte black and have aluminum frames with carbon fiber forks with aluminum steerer tubes. 

Consumers should contact a local Felt Bicycles dealer to receive a free inspection and repair.

CANNIBAL BICYCLES 

Nirve Sports Ltd. is recalling Cannibal Bicycles sold nationwide from December 2008 to April 2009. The bicycle stem can crack and cause the rider to lose control, posing a risk of serious injury if the rider falls. 

This recall involves Cannibal "Chopper" model bicycles with graphic designs by artist Corey Miller. The bicycles have a black matte finish. The affected bicycles have a serial number within the following range: L8E0300001 – L8E1001050. Serial numbers are located on the bottom of the bicycle between the pedals. 

Consumers should return the bicycles to the place of purchase for free repair.

CLOTH BOOKS 

Sterling Publishing Co. Inc. is recalling eebee's "Have a Ball" Adventures Cloth Books sold nationwide from June 2008 to June 2009. A string attaching a ball to the book can become entangled in the basketball hoop element, posing a strangulation hazard. 

This recall involves the eebee's "Have a Ball" Adventure cloth book. This interactive activity book has a small cloth ball attached to a string which children use to complete activities in the book. The books are intended for children ages 9 to 36 months. ISBN 13:978-1-4027-5771-6 is located on a white tag attached to the book. 

Consumers should return the product to the place of purchase for a refund.

SIMPLICITY BASSINETS 

Convertible "close-sleeper/bedside sleeper" bassinets manufactured by Simplicity Inc., of Reading, Pa. are being recalled. 

The Simplicity 3-in-1 and 4-in-1 convertible bassinets, including bassinets with the Graco logo and "Winnie the Pooh" motif licensed by Disney Consumer Products, contain metal bars that are covered by an adjustable fabric flap. This fabric flap is secured by Velcro© fasteners, which are intended to be partially removed when the bassinet is converted into the bedside/close-sleeper mode. If the Velcro© fasteners are not properly re-secured when the fabric flap is adjusted, or if the consumer entirely removes the fabric flap exposing the metal bars, an infant can slip through the opening between the lower metal bar and the mattress support and become entrapped and suffocate or strangle.

Exterminator

DVD PLAYERS 

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is recalling Durabrand DVD Players sold exclusively at Wal-Mart stores nationwide from January 2006 to July 2009. The DVD players can overheat, posing a fire and burn hazards. 

This recall involves a single DVD player with a remote control. The device is silver colored and has a U-shaped opening at the top to insert the DVD. 

Consumers should return the DVD player to the nearest Wal-Mart for a full refund.

CEILING FANS 

The Modern Fan Co. Inc. is recalling Pensi Fans sold nationwide from August 2008 to July 2009. The internal coupler that connects the down rod assembly to the motor can break and cause the fan to fall from the ceiling, posing an injury hazard. 

The recalled Pensi fans have model numbers beginning with or containing "PEN-AA-" or "PEN-GW-" and have an Aluminum/Anthracite or a Gloss White finish.

WEIGHT WATCHERS TOYS AND MAGNETS 

Weight Watchers Intl. is recalling Hungry Figures and Hungry Magnets sold nationwide and in Canada from April 2009 to July 2009. Sewing needles have been found in the stuffing of the Hungry Figures, posing a puncture hazard. 

The Hungry Figures and Hungry Magnets have orange plush exteriors. The Hungry Figure is about 6 inches long and the Hungry Magnet is about 4 inches long. 

Consumers should return the items to Weight Watchers to receive a full refund or a credit towards the purchase of another product.
