[August 29, 2009]  Lincoln Area YMCA is still accepting registrations for the Before and After School programs offered at all District 27, Chester-East Lincoln and Olympia South elementary schools. See http://www.lincolnymca.org/BeforeAfterCare.aspx.

Space is still available for the YMCA Preschool Play Center programs and Preschool P.E. classes. These fun programs will be offered throughout the school year. Dates and times for all preschool program activities are available through links at http://www.lincolnymca.org/Preschool.aspx.

Megan Kissel Fall Soccer League -- New this season is seven exciting weeks of soccer. The first week there will be a clinic led by LCHS soccer coach Tim Stuckey for players and coaches. The clinic will be on Sept. 26 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. In this program children will learn sound soccer fundamentals, good physical conditioning techniques, meet new friends and have FUN. Games will be on Saturday mornings at the LDC soccer fields on State Street. Register by Sept. 11. See http://www.lincolnymca.org/SpringFallSoccer.aspx.

NEW Fall Volleyball League -- Have a team already assembled? Sign them up and receive generous discounts. Children in first to third grade and fourth to sixth grade will learn basic volleyball fundaments and rules while coaches emphasize teamwork and sportsmanship at weekly practices and games at the YMCA Activity Center on Wyatt Avenue. YMCA Cheerleading -- New day and time. Cheerleading practice will be on Monday evenings at the YMCA Activity Center on Wyatt Avenue. Sessions for children age 4 through fifth grade will be from 5:30 to 6:25 p.m., and the sixth- to 12th-graders will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Coach Cathy Sanders and her team will teach cheers, cheer techniques and forms. The YMCA cheerleaders will also be highlighted as special guests as they perform at local community events such as football games, basketball games, parades and more! Register by Sept. 8. Nursing Homes

Biking Blast -- The YMCA will host a family bike ride on Sept. 20 for both experienced and novice cyclists. There will be well-marked courses of approximately 30 miles and five miles with great scenic routes for the entire family to enjoy. Ride will start at the YMCA Activity Center on Wyatt Avenue at 12:30 p.m. Registrations have begun. Sign up early at the Y office to receive discounts. Adult Fitness -- Beginning Sept. 15, join us on Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. for Dance Fitness, which highlights a variety of dance genres that will get you into shape. Then on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m., a crowd favorite is back: Punch/Kick Fitness, a mix of kickboxing, dance and martial arts. Sign up for six weeks of classes and get huge savings.
