[December 24, 2009]  Have you been to "O'Keefe Country"? Join us Dec. 30 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. as we walk through the world of Georgia O'Keefe, best known for her focus on flowers and the scenery around her in her beloved state of New Mexico. Dec. 23 was the regular registration deadline. There's a $3 late fee for registrations received after that.

For information on Lincoln Area YMCA programs and events, visit the downtown office, 604 Broadway St., Suite 1; call 735-3915; or visit www.lincolnymca.org.  The YMCA Activity Center is at the former Odd Fellows gymnasium on Wyatt Avenue.

We are looking for future Lady Railers to participate in our YMCA Girls Basketball program. This is an instructional program designed to introduce girls in first through sixth grade to the game of basketball. Practices are once a week and games are on Sundays. Registration fees increase starting Dec. 24-30. Register today to join this exciting program.

Is your 3- to 5-year-old preschool child full of lots of energy? Bring them to the YMCA on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11 to 11:45 a.m. for Preschool P.E. This is a physical education class where children participate in calisthenics, relays and various "gym games," all while learning character development. This is an ongoing program that meets January through May. Register today to begin after the winter break.

"Hop, Hop, Hop on Pop" or is that Hoop It Up? Join us every Thursday night from 7 to 8:30 for a quick game of pickup basketball. Games began on Dec. 10 and continue into the New Year. This program is for adults 18 years and older who enjoy playing basketball with friends. New teams are formed each week. The cost is $2 for Y members and $4 for nonmembers.
