The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

HardwareHealthy resolutions

The Oasis will have an educational seminar on Thursday, Feb. 19, beginning at 10 a.m. Learn how to select foods and prepare recipes designed for chronic health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and several others. Sample some new recipes and taste as we go.

Extension to sponsor bingo

The Logan County Extension Unit will sponsor the bingo games Thursday, Feb. 19, beginning at 1 p.m. at the senior center.

Alzheimer's support group to meet

The Alzheimer support group will meet Thursday, Feb. 19, beginning at 1 p.m. in the library at the senior center. No reservations are necessary. The group provides support and information for caregivers and extended family and is facilitated by a coordinator from Maple Ridge Care Centre.

Memories class

The Memories class will meet Thursday, Feb. 19, beginning at 3:45 p.m. in senior center's library. Participants are asked to bring their own pen and paper to learn skills needed to preserve memories for families and friends.

Oasis board meeting

The Oasis board of directors will meet on Thursday, Feb. 19, beginning at 5 p.m. The meeting is open to the public. To schedule any agenda items, the board must receive notification in writing on or before the fifth day of the month prior to a meeting date.

Bunco

Bunco games at the senior center will be Monday, Feb. 23, beginning at 10 a.m. Refreshments will be available, sponsored by Marilyn Armbrust of Regions Bank.

Traveling bingo

The Oasis is heading for Atlanta for traveling bingo at the Atlanta Community House on Monday, Feb. 23. Bingo will begin at 10 a.m.

February birthdays

Birthday time! The February birthdays will be celebrated Monday, Feb. 23, beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the senior center. Come and enjoy some ice cream and cake.

Tuesday's lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for Feb. 24 features grilled chicken, parmesan noodles, peas, garlic bread and dessert for $3.75. If you stay to play cards, the cost is $3.25. The reservation deadline is noon Monday.

Card winners

The winners for weekday pinochle were Pat Sabastian and Lucky Eichner. The weekend winner was Henry Warnisher. The five-in-one winner was Ruth Barry. Congratulations.
