Agriculture futures rise on Chicago Board of Trade

[January 07, 2009]  CHICAGO (AP) -- Agriculture futures rose Tuesday on the Chicago Board of Trade.

InsuranceWheat for March delivery jumped 26.75 cents to $6.435 a bushel, while March corn popped 16.25 cents to $4.275 a bushel and March oats leaped 12 cents to $2.28 a bushel. March soybeans soared 29 cents to $10.16 a bushel.

Beef and pork futures traded mostly higher on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

February live cattle rose 1 cent to 88.55 cents a pound, but March feeder cattle shed 0.75 cent to 95.97 cents a pound. February lean hogs gained 1.28 cents to 63.95 cents a pound, and February pork bellies added 1.3 cents to 87.75 cents a pound.
