Dorothy Denning

[January 05, 2008]  Visitation for Dorothy M. Denning, 81, of Lincoln, will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mrs. Denning was a homemaker.

She was born March 24, 1927, in Lincoln, to Fred and Mary Maloy Lowe Wehner. She married John E. Denning on Jan. 26, 1946, in Lincoln.

She is survived by her husband; three sons, John F. (and Arlene) of Sullivan, Michael of Decatur and Jeffrey (and Julie) of Taylorville; one daughter, Ann (and Randy) Matson of Lincoln; four grandchildren, Tiffany (and Mikel) Fulmer, Tyler (and Tabatha) Matson, Ashley Denning and Whittney Denning; three stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two nieces; and a number of cousins.

Her parents, two half sisters, a half brother and an infant nephew preceded her in death.

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She was a former precinct committeewoman and served many years as a Republican election judge. She was also a den mother for Cub Scouts.
