Lincoln Police Dept. holiday patrol results

[January 08, 2009]  The Lincoln Police Department concluded the "Click It or Ticket" campaign during the Christmas and New Year's holidays. Between Dec. 24, 2008, and Jan. 1, 2009, the department conducted directed patrols focusing on the fatal five offenses of speeding, DUI, failure to use seat belts, following too closely and improper lane usage. The directed patrols resulted in the following traffic citations and written warnings:

Citations:

  • Speeding, 6

  • Lane usage, 1

  • Seat belt, 9

  • No insurance, 13

  • No driver's license, 6

  • Driving while license suspended, 1

  • DUI, 2

  • Failure to reduce speed, 2

  • Failure to yield, 1

  • Allowing unauthorized person to drive, 1

  • Expired registration, 1

  • Tire noise, 1

Written warnings:

  • Speeding, 17

  • One headlamp, 6

  • Tinted windows, 2

  • Registration light, 3

  • Improper display, registration, 3

  • Stop sign violations, 5

Six traffic crashes were investigated during the same period.

Voluntary compliance is the ultimate goal of the Click It or Ticket campaign. Wearing a properly adjusted safety belt significantly reduces the risk of serious injury. Obedience to all traffic laws is key to keeping our streets safe!
