[January 12, 2009]  CHICAGO (AP) -- A 4-year-old boy in Chicago has died after he was mauled by his family's Rottweiler.

InsuranceChicago Fire Department spokeswoman Eve Rodriguez says the boy was found Sunday afternoon in the backyard of his home in the city's Southwest Side. He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, but died from his wounds by the time he arrived.

She says the boy's family has more than one dog and that the Rottweiler has been taken away by the Chicago Department of Animal Care and Control. It was not immediately known what would happen to the animal.
