[January 17, 2009]  MOSCOW (AP) -- Ukraine's prime minister and EU energy officials are traveling to Moscow for talks aimed at restoring Russian natural gas supplies to Europe.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko says her meeting with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin will be tough, but that Ukraine's image has been damaged by the halting of Russian gas supplies through Ukrainian pipelines.

EU nations have criticized both Russia and Ukraine for allowing a pricing dispute to affect deliveries to European nations. Deliveries to many EU nations have been blocked for 11 days.

EU energy officials and some officials from European nations also plan to meet Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. He has called for a Moscow summit on the gas issue.
