[January 27, 2009]  WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) -- DuPont says it swung to a fourth-quarter loss, hurt by a hefty restructuring charge.

The Wilmington, Del.-based chemicals maker reported a loss of $629 million, or 70 cents per share, compared with profit of $545 million, or 60 cents per share, a year ago.

RestaurantExcluding a restructuring charge of 42 cents per share, DuPont Co.'s loss was 28 cents per share, in range of its forecast for an adjusted loss between 20 cents and 30 cents per share.

Revenue fell 16 percent to $6.07 billion from $7.21 billion, as a steep decline in global industrial production magnified slowing consumer and construction spending.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters predicted a loss of 24 cents per share on revenue of $6.17 billion.
