[January 28, 2009]  BEAVERTON, Ore. (AP) -- A was arrested on accusations he stole a beer at gunpoint. Detective Pam Yazzolino of the Beaverton Police Department said a 42-year-old man displayed a black handgun at a convenience store and told the clerk to put the money in the bag with the beer.

When the clerk refused to add the cash, the robber grabbed the beer and drove away. Another employee provided police with a description of the suspect's car and partial plate number.

Police stopped the car, recovering the beer and what turned out to be a replica of a black Beretta handgun. Police also learned the suspect had taken the car from a relative without permission.

The man was charged Monday with robbery and theft and a charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle is pending.
