Narrative:
At approximately 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, a two-vehicle crash
occurred at Illinois 54 near 1000 Street. Jenkins was driving west
in a 2000 Buick four-door. Kalka was driving east in a 1996 Ford
truck.
Jenkins lost control of his vehicle and started sliding sideways
on the snow-covered road. As the vehicle was sliding, the passenger
side struck the front end of Kalka's Ford.
Jenkins died from injuries sustained in the crash. Kalka was
transported to a local hospital, where he was treated and released.
Both Jenkins and Kalka were wearing their seat belts.
