The scholarship recipients will be announced during the 10th annual
Logan County Ag Day Breakfast on March 19 at 7 a.m. at Lincoln
Christian College and Seminary's Laughlin Center. This is a free event
for the public that provides a networking environment for both
agriculture and business leaders. During the breakfast, the program
will include an informational ag update, comedian Steve Caminiti and
the awarding of the scholarships. During the 10-year history of
the Ag Day Breakfast, $41,000 has been awarded in scholarships. The
chamber's ag committee feels that the investment in these students
is key to the future of agriculture in Logan County.
The purpose of the annual Ag Day Breakfast is to recognize the
economic impact of agriculture in Logan County. The breakfast
directly reflects the ag committee's mission to enhance the Logan
County economy by strengthening ag and business relationships,
exploring and implementing value-added opportunities, developing and
marketing agritourism attractions, and encouraging natural resource
management.
The breakfast is hosted by the chamber's ag committee and is made
possible by local business sponsors. The Ag Day event is an
important part of the mission of the chamber to serve the membership
through a commitment to the economic prosperity of Lincoln and Logan
County.
Anyone interested in attending may make reservations by calling
the chamber at 217-735-2385.
The deadline to apply for a scholarship is Feb. 13. Applications
should be returned to the chamber office no later than 5 p.m. on
that date.
