Fleshman has been serving as
interim Head Start director since November 2008 and has been with
Community Action for over eight years. In her previous position at
Community Action, Fleshman managed health services for Head Start
children and their families in addition to serving as deputy
director of the Community Action Agency. She also brings with her a
bachelor's degree in education and over 20 years of experience in
the field of education. Head Start is a program of the United
States Department of Health and Human Services that provides
comprehensive education, health, nutrition and parent involvement
services to low-income children and their families. It is the
longest-running program to address systemic poverty in the United
States.
"Beth has a bottomless commitment to the children and the
families we serve. I am confident that with her leadership the
program will reach new heights," said Angela Stoltzenburg, executive
director.
In addition to Head
Start, Community Action provides a variety of services to
low-income and senior individuals throughout DeWitt, Fulton, Logan,
Mason, Menard and Piatt counties.
