The House speaker and Senate president announced Wednesday that
they're calling a special legislative session for July 14. The
purpose of the session is to consider overriding the governor's
budget veto, if he takes that step. But it's also possible that
Gov. Pat Quinn could call legislators back into session before the
14th.
Wednesday marks the first day of the new budget year, but
Illinois doesn't have a budget in place.
The Democratic governor says vital services will continue to be
delivered.
