[July 03, 2009]  Summer is flying by, but Lincoln Park District still has plenty of fun programs to participate in. "Crime Scene Investigators" is next week, with sessions Monday through Friday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Mrs. Kitty's cat has been stolen, and as a forensic scientist you hold the key to discovering the culprit. The class will get you into the hands-on world of forensics and crime-solving as you build your own "CSI Crime Kit." You will evaluate fingerprints and collect evidence at the scene of the crime. Your well-trained eye will determine who committed this awful crime. Lead investigator and crime scene expert is Deputy Richard Montcalm. He has been in law enforcement for 19 years and has also been the chief of police for the city of Lincoln. He has an extensive background in teaching at the college level as well. Preregistration is recommended, and there is a maximum of 15 detectives.

Have some fun this summer "Putting On a Play." This weeklong experience begins July 13 and ends on July 17. Actors and actresses will be here from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Learn how plays are staged, rehearsed and performed. The camp will end with our very own play production on Friday afternoon. The participants will learn how to adapt stories to be performed for audiences and how to create costumes, makeup and sets. Learn acting technique and have fun! No theater experience necessary. All you need is a great attitude and a willingness to learn. Bring your sack lunch, swimsuit and towel.

Chris Gray, who will lead the program, teaches theater at Lincoln College and has directed and designed for over 20 theaters. He has also been involved with children's theater, improv and creative drama for over 16 years. Family and friends are invited on Friday to see the production. Welcome back, Chris, and thanks for sharing your talents with Lincoln Park District.

Get a taste of "Different Styles of Dance" this summer. Jazz, ballet and clogging are included. Returning this year will be a section on choreography. Learn to apply some new moves to your favorite song. Special shoes are not needed, but please wear something other than socks. Previous experience is not necessary.
