Agriculture futures drop; livestock prices fall

[July 03, 2009]    CHICAGO (AP) -- Agriculture futures dropped in early trading Thursday on the Chicago Board of Trade.

RestaurantWheat for September delivery slipped 1.5 cents to $5.34 a bushel, while September corn slid 6.75 cents to $3.4975 a bushel. September oats tumbled 7 cents to $2.28 a bushel, and soybeans for August delivery were down 12.5 cents to $11.48 a bushel.

Meanwhile, beef and pork futures traded lower on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

August live cattle slipped 0.85 cent to 84.90 cents a pound, while August feeder cattle shed 1.07 cents to 102.70 cents a pound. August lean hogs traded down 0.65 cent to 60.05 cents a pound, and August pork bellies dropped 0.62 cent to 55.40 cents a pound.
