City of Lincoln Alderwoman Joni Tibbs, who was
also a member of the Heritage Days Committee, hands out American
flags to all parade participants. |
 |
|

The participants dressed in orange T-shirts
were involved in ScoutSweep 2009. Cub Scout Troops 105 and 111 were
selected by the mayor to lead the parade.
|

The parade was not just for children, as
several adults joined their kids, walking with them, and some even
on bikes. |
 |
|

Even though kids may not mind parading in the
rain, sometimes the adults just can't resist trying to protect them
from the elements; it's just their nature.

Entering into the Rec Center parking lot,
parade participants get a first peek at what may lay ahead during
the water balloon fights with the Lincoln City Fire Department.

American pride for the parade. |

Kena Bere and her mother, Njari, smile happily
as they participate in the parade. Njari, a native of Kenya and a
teacher at Lincoln Christian College, is celebrating her first
Independence Day as a United States citizen, having been sworn in on
May 22.
