When the weapon of choice is
water, a little rain isn’t going to stand in any young water
fighter's way!
Saturday morning, immediately following the children's walking
parade, youngsters gathered at the Lincoln Park District to do
battle with the city of Lincoln firefighters.

The
battle begins with a frontal assault from the balloon troops. |
While the firefighters had more water power,
the balloon troopers had more manpower!

|
Fire Chief Kent Hulett seems to forget his
mission as he is pelted by two youngsters well-armed with balloons.
Also note the little fellow preparing to make a "rear assault."
|
For a firefighter, standing at the nozzle end
of the hose is often an exhausting, and sad job as he fights to save
an area home or business, but today it's all fun and smiles for
those who serve our city. |

The balloon troops back off and regroup as
they realize they are starting to run low on ammo.
|
The firefighters have been pushed back behind
their own lines and decide it is time to bring out the "big guns."

.
Chief Hulett becomes the victim of "friendly
fire." |
The chief is literally left dripping wet. Also
note the green bomber balloon remnants on his shoulder. At least one
of the balloon troops hit the mark! |
