[July 06, 2009]  The following recalls were issued by various federal and state agencies during the week ending July 3: 

ROPE CUTTERS 

MarineTech Products Inc. is recalling Tabletop Rope Cutters sold at West Marine stores nationwide from December 2006 to April 2009. The recalled rope cutters can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards. 

The recalled tabletop rope cutters are used for cutting and cauterizing rope. This recall includes MarineTech part number 75-7070 and West Marine part number 559419. The Marine Tech part number is located on the side of the rope cutter. “Panther” is printed on the rope cutter.

IN-WALL TIMERS 

Intermatic is recalling Intermatic Model ST01 and EI600 In-wall Electronic Timers sold nationwide from March 2007 to June 2009. When consumers trying to replace the timer's battery place a metal object through the battery tray slot, the object can reach internal metal contacts, posing a shock hazard.

This recall involves the Intermatic in-wall electronic timers with model numbers ST01, ST01C, ST01AC, ST01AC70, ST01C70, ST01CL, EI600C, EI600LAC, EI600LAC8, EI600WC, and EI600WC8. This product is a lamp and appliance timer and typically takes the place of a standard wall switch. Model numbers can be found on the packaging and on the instruction. In-Wall timers are included in this recall if (1) the brand name “Intermatic” is molded on the front of the timer cover door, (2) the timer has only four keypad buttons, and (3) there is no 3-digit date code (e.g. “04C”) stamped on the inside of the timer cover door.

LAMPS 

LTD Commodities LLC; ABC Distributing of Bannockburn, Ill., and Lakeside Collection are recalling Ionic Salt Lamps sold by these companies from March 2009 to May 2009. The lamps overheat causing the vinyl coating on the cord to burst and melt, posing a fire hazard. 

The recalled ionic salt lamp varies in color from light to dark red and is attached to a wood base. The lamp fixture comes with a 10 watt bulb and a black cord with an inline on/off switch. The UL file number E216832 will be printed on the cord and the UL file number E214389 on the plug.

SNOWMOBILES 

Polaris Industries Inc. is recalling 2009 Polaris Assault model Snowmobiles sold nationwide from September 2008 to June 2009. Bolts on the rear suspension can break causing the rail tip to become dislodged and interfere with the snowmobile's track. This can cause the track to lock up and the rider to lose control of the snowmobile, posing a risk of injury. 

This recall involves 2009 Polaris 800 Assault RMK 146 snowmobiles model numbers S09PL8EE and S09PL8ES. "Assault 800" is printed on the snowmobile's hood. "Polaris" is written on the seat. The model number is located on the right side of the tunnel below the seat. The snowmobiles are red and black. 

Consumers should contact any Polaris snowmobile dealer to schedule a free repair.

SIMPLICITY CRIBS 

Simplicity Inc. and SFCA Inc. of Reading, Pa., the firms appear to no longer conduct day to day operations, are recalling Simplicity Drop Side Cribs sold nationwide from January 2005 to June 2009. The crib's plastic hardware can break or deform, causing the drop side to detach. When the drop side detaches, it creates space between the drop side and the crib mattress. Infants and toddlers can roll into this space and become entrapped which can lead to suffocation. 

This newer style of Simplicity hardware can be identified by a flexible plastic tab at the top of the lower tracks. The recalled model numbers include but may not be limited to: 8050, 8325, 8620, 8745, 8748, 8755, 8756, 8765, 8778, 8810, and 8994, 8995, 8996. 

Consumers should immediately return the crib to the place of purchase for a refund, replacement or store credit. More info at www.recalls.org

INFLATABLE BABY FLOATS 

Aqua-Leisure Industries is recalling Inflatable Baby Floats sold nationwide from December 2002 to June 2009. The leg straps in the seat of the float can tear, causing children to unexpectedly fall into or under the water, posing a risk of drowning. 

The recalled inflatable baby floats were sold in a variety of styles and colors. The names and model numbers are located on the packaging. A date between 08/02 and 07/08 is molded on the valves of recalled products. A complete list of the recalled products can be found at www.recalls.org.
