Dawn
Skaggs and her daughter, Hannah, are excited about their upcoming
move into the new home they have helped to build in Mount Pulaski
with Logan County Habitat for Humanity. They have put in the
required hours of sweat equity and volunteerism that Habitat
requires before a family can take possession of the house. As
homeowners, they will now begin paying off a 25-year mortgage.

Habitat will have a house blessing and
dedication of the home at 511 S. Lafayette St. on Sunday, July 12,
at 2:30 p.m. The public is invited. At that time, the keys to the
house will be presented to the Skaggs family. Following the
dedication, the family welcomes the public to tour the home and
share refreshments and fellowship. The Skaggs' home is the third
Logan County Habitat for Humanity house constructed in Mount Pulaski
and the 13th in Logan County.
More information about home partnership with Habitat is available
at 732-6412 or
habitatlc@hfhlogancounty.com.
On
Saturday, July 11, Logan Lanes will have an Adult/Youth
No-tap Tourney. There will be two squads -- at 2 and 4 p.m. Cost is
$8 per person ($6.50 for the Bumper division). Bowlers can bowl more
than once with the same or different partners. This is a handicapped
tourney, so everyone has a chance to come out on top! If you don't
have a partner but want to bowl, we will find you a partner.
New
Dairy and Culinary classes this year at the Logan County Fair
are cornbread, fruit drop cookie and trail mix. Several special
awards will be given to winners in the Dairy and Culinary
departments at the Logan County Fair -- best pie award, best quick
bread award, best yeast bread award, best decorated lunch box by boy
or girl (age 5-8), best cookie made with honey, best cookie by boy
or girl (age 9-15), best candy award and best decorated birthday
cake. Also, special premium awards will be given to the following
six canning categories of canned fruits, canned vegetables, pickles,
sauces, preserves, and jelly and jam.
We want to thank Nancy Gehlbach for sending us this picture to
share. Four generations being able to get together is rare,
and we are happy to help celebrate this family's memorable occasion.

Have
some fun this summer "Putting On a Play" at the Lincoln
Park District. This weeklong experience begins July 13 and ends
on July 17. Actors and actresses will be here from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Learn how plays are staged, rehearsed and performed. The camp will
end with our very own play production on Friday afternoon. The
participants will learn how to adapt stories to be performed for
audiences and how to create costumes, makeup and sets. Learn acting
technique and have fun! No theater experience necessary. All you
need is a great attitude and a willingness to learn. Bring your sack
lunch, swimsuit and towel.
Chris Gray, who will lead the program, teaches
theater at Lincoln College and has directed and designed for over 20
theaters. He has also been involved with children's theater, improv
and creative drama for over 16 years. Family and friends are invited
on Friday to see the production. Welcome back, Chris, and thanks for
sharing your talents with Lincoln Park District.
