[July 07, 2009]  Lincoln native and NBA basketball player Brian Cook wed Victoria Velasquez on the Fourth of July at the Trump National Golf Club in Palos Verdes, Calif.

The 28-year-old, 6-foot-9 power forward and his bride exchanged vows before 150 guests. Players from across the league were on hand, and Luke Walton from the Los Angeles Lakers, one of Cook's former teammates, was best man.

Velasquez wore a gown by Priscilla of Boston Platinum Collection and $75,000 worth of Adorn Brides jewelry.

"I wasn't nervous at all until right before the ceremony and then I saw her and just knew that it was all good," Cook said.

Cook, who was traded to the Houston Rockets in a trade-deadline deal, recently exercised his option to remain with the team rather than go into the free agent market.

In six NBA seasons with the Lakers, Magic and Rockets, Cook, who is noted for his shooting range, averaged six points on 44.9 percent shooting, making 39.4 of his 3-pointers.
