Being prompt, efficient and
persistent in the medical records department at Abraham Lincoln
Memorial Hospital are traits that make it easier for other employees
to do their jobs.
That's why Amanda Hutchison was awarded Employee of the Month for
July at ALMH. Her nominator credited her with consistently doing a
great job.

"Any time I call for a medical record, she responds immediately,"
says Debbie Ackerman, a nurse at ALMH. "She makes my job easier to
do. If there is a problem, she stays on it until it is fixed."
Hutchison has worked at ALMH for nine years -- four years
previously and nearly five years now. She started in dietary and
also worked in patient registration, now called patient access.
She says she enjoys working at the hospital because medical
records is a wonderful department.
"We all work as a team, and we work well together and care about
each other," Hutchison says. "It's like an extended family. It
doesn't feel like a chore coming to work every day, and that's
important to me."
The skills required for a job in medical records include a high
school diploma, good customer service skills and PC knowledge.
Hutchison says she spends her shifts scanning in charts, faxing to
doctors' offices, reviewing charts and cleaning up accounts.

"There are lots of opportunities in the medical field," she adds.
Ackerman says Hutchison's dedication to keep medical records
straight and running efficiently "definitely helps to make ALMH a
great place to work."
ALMH employs more than 290 in a wide variety of job functions. A
different employee is honored each month for their commitment to
creating great patient experiences, getting great results and making
ALMH a great place to work.
