The
Humane Society of Logan County is very excited about the first
"Ales for Tails" fundraiser at Chad's Blind on Friday, July 17,
5-9 p.m. The event, to be held annually, promises to be a fun-filled
night. There are still tickets available for $25. The evening
includes beer samples, snacks, a bag toss challenge and music by the
band Shiftin' Gears. If you would like to purchase tickets, please
call Sue Jones, 217-732-9422. The weather report is promising a
beautiful evening around the gazebo at Chad's Blind. Call now for
your tickets.

Elkhart
Fire Department and Hudson's Talk of the Town will host the first
Elkhart Fire Summerfest on Saturday, July 18. Events will
include a dunk tank, bag toss tourney, children's activities, door
prizes, four-wheeler raffle, silent auction, food, live music, car
show and helicopter landing. The event will be in downtown Elkhart
from 2 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
 Max Cook (No. 20 in picture, third from left), who plays for
Donnie Aeilts at Lincoln Junior High School, played this weekend on
a Springfield travel basketball team (13 and under division) in Fort
Wayne, Ind., at the USSSA National Basketball Championships.
Springfield won the 28-team national championship, beating elite
teams from Ohio, Indiana, Texas, Minnesota and Missouri-Kansas. Cook
averaged 14 points, four rebounds and three assists as the team went
8-0, with three wins in pool play and five in the tournament
bracket.
Chad
Burnham Flag Football!! This program is for children from 4
years old to second grade. Each child will learn the fundamentals of
football, make lasting friendships and have a whole lot of FUN! YMCA
volunteer coaches will conduct one practice during the week, with
games on Saturday mornings. Register by July 24 to avoid a $10 fee

 Habitat
for Humanity had their house blessing and dedication of the home
at 511 S. Lafayette St. in Mount Pulaski on Sunday. At that time,
the keys to the house were turned over to the Skaggs family.

The
Quilters at Heart Quilt Guild will have their monthly meeting at
7 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 402 Pekin
St. This month's activity is the Christmas in July project. Bring
needle, thread and scissors. For additional information, please

Get
a taste of Different Styles of Dance at the park district this summer. Jazz,
ballet and clogging are included. Returning this year will be a
section on choreography. Learn to apply some new moves to your
favorite song. Special shoes are not needed, but please wear
something other than socks. Previous experience is not necessary.
Instructor Audra Turley, owner of Audra's Studio of Dance, is a
master graduate of Dance Educators of America. She is also the
director of the award-winning Flying Feet Cloggers and competition
teams. Parents will be invited to a demonstration on the last day of
class. Join Audra beginning on July 22 through July 24 from 9 to
