Emden Homecoming this weekend

[July 16, 2009]  EMDEN -- The 62nd annual Emden Homecoming, sponsored by Sons of American Legion, begins tonight for a weekend packed with fun activities for the whole family. The weekend schedule is as follows:

Thursday, July 16

Summer Time Fun Amusements, 5-9 p.m.
Wristband night, $12

Friday, July 17

Chicken dinner served by Hartem FFA, 4:30 p.m.

Summer Time Fun Amusements, 5-9 p.m.

Stage show, with opening ceremony and the New Salem County Opry, 7:30 p.m.

Legion ticket drawing with two cash prizes of $139 and $62, 10:30 p.m.

Saturday, July 18

Townwide garage sale, 8 a.m.-noon

Craft show and sale, 8 a.m. to dusk

Pork chop sandwiches served by the Land of Lincoln Antique Tractor & Engine Club, 9 a.m.-?

Car show registration, 9 a.m.-noon

Car show, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Kiddie tractor pull at the Depot, 9 a.m.

Amusement ride wristbands, noon-4 p.m.

Parade sign-up, check-in, 12:30 p.m.

Parade with the theme of "Star-Spangled Banner," 2 p.m.

Fish supper served by the Hartem Boosters Club, 4:30 p.m.

Hartem High School Band, 7 p.m.

Stage show, with opening ceremony and music by The Dynamics, 7:30 p.m.

Legion ticket drawing with three cash prizes of $250, $150 and $50, 10:30 p.m.

Sunday, July 19

The weekend's events will finish up on Sunday with a combined church service on the lawn of St. Peter Lutheran Church. All community members are invited to come and bring their lawn chairs.

Come out and enjoy all that Emden has to offer.
