[July 18, 2009]  Travel Soccer -- This is a coed travel soccer team for children 12-14 years old who are willing to train hard twice a week with coach Steve Foster and travel on Saturday mornings to play other YMCA teams from Springfield. There will be nine weeks of soccer, with an option to play in a culminating, two-day tournament. Regular registration ends Aug. 7.

For information on Lincoln Area YMCA programs and events, visit the downtown office, 604 Broadway St., Suite 1; call 735-3915; or visit www.lincolnymca.org.  The YMCA Activity Center is at the former Odd Fellows gymnasium on Wyatt Avenue.

Chad Burnham Flag Football -- This league is offered to all boys and girls from age 4 through second grade. Participants are divided into two leagues, one for children age 4 to kindergarten and the other for those entering first and second grade. Teams practice once a week and have games on Saturday mornings.

Golf Clinic -- Regular registrations are now over, but there are still spots open. You can sign up at the Y office with a nominal fee increase. The YMCA Golf Clinic was formed to teach children the fundamentals of golf while having a great time. The instructor, Jeff Nelson, will customize lessons to improve skills of children from kindergarten to eighth grade.

If your kids are looking for some extra summer fun, you can register them for the YMCA Summer Day Camp programs, which continue through Aug. 21. Kid Camp, for kindergarten through third grade, and Preteen Camp, for fourth to sixth grade, offer daily swimming, fun field trips, outdoor recreation and more. Call the Y today to learn how your child can join our summer fun!
