The Route 66 Heritage Foundation
of Logan County will host a huge celebration on Saturday in honor of
the 80th anniversary of The Mill. Along with this milestone, the
foundation has a lot more to celebrate. The Mill on 66 was recently
inducted into the Route 66 Association of Illinois Hall of Fame.

The Mill officially opened July 25, 1929. Paul Coddington was the
original owner. It was saved from demolition in 2006 by the Route 66
Heritage Foundation of Logan County. The 501(c)(3) not-for-profit
foundation was formed not only to save The Mill, but also to
preserve and promote the history of Route 66 in Logan County.
Festivities kick off at noon with speakers and awards. Music and
food will fill the afternoon, starting at 1. The Cell will sponsor
two acoustic duos: BOP Project from San Jose and The Bob Clymers
from Eureka will perform. Lincolnland Catering will be on hand at
The Mill selling Route 66 pronto pups and more. The afternoon will
include an informal car and motorcycle show, door prizes and 50-50
drawings.
At 4 p.m. "Coon Hound" Johnny and "Old Mill" Blossom of Spirits
of Tours will give a free presentation recalling "Broads and
Bootlegging of Logan County." Following that will be dinner at
Hallie's on the square with schnitzel specials, starting at 6 p.m.
Spirits of Tours will host a paranormal investigation at The Mill
as the evening unfolds. The investigation will begin at 8 p.m. and
the cost is $20 per person. Reservations must be made in advance by
calling 309-846-4306 or e-mailing
