[July 27, 2009]  Michael C. Knuth, aka "Tattoo," the armed suspect in the July 20 armed altercation with police at Scully Park, was arrested at the Logan County Safety Complex on Saturday.

Knuth, who was wounded in an exchange with Lincoln Police Department officers, has been charged on a Logan County warrant with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated discharge of a firearm and felon possession/use of a firearm/weapon.

The shooting, which occurred at approximately 8 p.m., rendered wounds to Knuth that were treated at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. No officers or other bystanders were hurt in the exchange.

The original call that brought officers to the area was that Knuth had attempted but failed in committing an armed robbery of an undisclosed area resident.

No details are available at this time as to when Knuth will be arraigned on the charges.
