Troops
are coming home Thursday. Line the streets.
Close Up has been informed that several of our area soldiers will
be coming home on Thursday, July 30. The soldiers and their families
will gather at the Steak n Shake on Woodlawn Road at 3:00 pm and then motorcade
to Lincoln Parkway, where they will turn south to Fifth Street Road.
They will then proceed east to the VFW at 915 Fifth St., where a
reception for friends, family and well-wishers will be held. |
It is hoped that as many residents as
possible can come out and line the streets back to the veterans'
hall to show our support for their service to their country.
Soldiers that we have been told will be in the motorcade are
Sgt. Jeremy Duffer, Staff Sgt. Jim Rehmann (Lincoln City Police), Sgt.
Robert Jackson, Spc. Josh Jackson, Spc. Brandon Jackson,
Spc. Matthew Langley, Spc. Lucas Wampler and Chaplain
Jeremy Todd.
These fine young men have given us their best. Show your support and
line the streets Thursday afternoon.
The
AFSCME members employed at our correctional facilities will
be holding an informational picket at Madigan Park on Wednesday from
2 to 4 p.m. The prison employees currently are facing massive
layoffs at the local prisons due to budget cuts, and the union asks
for your support in saving their jobs. Come on out to show your
support and call your state officials, letting them know you support
your neighbors.
First
United Methodist Church Kids Club will be having a pork chop
dinner and activities on Saturday, Aug. 1. Activities 9 a.m.-1 p.m.;
dinner served 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
The dinner: pork chop, baked beans, coleslaw and brownie. There
will also be crafts, bake sale, quilt raffle and an auction. Prepaid
ticket needed to drive through and pick up meal. Tickets are
available at the church office or Kids Club office, First United
Methodist Church, 302 Broadway.
