Congratulations to our first Grab Your Fork recipe drawing winners for the month of July.

Jamie Holmes, New Holland, won with her Banana Salad recipe. Jamie decided to take the Schnitzel for Four that was offered by our great friends over at Triple C Bar-B-Q.

If you don't think these sandwiches are huge, check out the picture.

Also, Kim Aper of Lincoln, with her Nancy's Mac n Cheese Salad recipe, won a gift bag from First Impressions, and she will be able to pick her choice at the display at Penache on Woodlawn Road.

Don't be left out of the fun, and remember, you can win great prizes just for submitting your favorite recipes.

"Make-It-and-Take-It" craft hour at the Lincoln Public Library is Wednesday, Aug. 5.
Children under 8 years old (with an adult) can join the event, sponsored by the Lincoln Public Library Youth Services Department. Please, no more than two children per adult. The craft activity will be at the Library Annex Community Room from 10 to 11 a.m.

Humane Society adopt-a-thon

The Lincoln Public Library Youth Services Department and Humane Society of Logan County will have an adopt-a-thon on Wednesday, Aug. 5, on the library lawn at 725 Pekin St. In case of rain, it will be held in the Library Annex Community Room. The hours are between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m., so come on out and find that perfect animal to take home.

Got a good piece of news, information or something that we can all brag about? If you do, e-mail Mike and let us tell everyone about it. Plus you can win cash. Every submission, whether we use it or not, will get your name in the "Close Up" grab bag. At the end of the month we will draw a name and someone will get $25 just for dropping us an e-mail. If you wish, we will be happy to donate your winnings to the organization of your choice.
