Zonta
Club will meet on
Tuesday, June 9, at 6:15 p.m. at the home of Leslie Wilmert. Members
are to bring a dish to pass and a white elephant gift. Regrets to
Judy Awe at 732-4758 by Monday, June 8.

Catholic
Charities will host an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. on June 11 at
its new Lincoln office at 2110 W. Fifth St. in Lincoln.
The Lincoln-Logan County Chamber of Commerce will conduct a
ribbon-cutting at 4:30, followed by a blessing by a Holy Family
Catholic Church pastor at 5 p.m.
The public is invited to tour the new office and learn more about
the programs and services available in the Lincoln area.
Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Peoria provides a wide
variety of services to area residents regardless of age, gender,
race, income or faith.
Programs include foster care, adoption services, pregnancy
support, residential treatment and independent living services,
family counseling, youth crisis intervention, day care, senior
services, community organizing, family preservation, Latino and
immigrant outreach, abstinence education, and women's counseling and
support.
Approximately, 450 staff and 1,700 volunteers serve more than
30,000 children and families throughout 26 central Illinois counties
each year.
On Monday night before the Lincoln City
Council, Tracy Jackson of the city's forestry department announced
the winners of this year's Arbor Day picture contest. They are
(pictured left to right) Megan Siddens of Washington-Monroe
School, first place; Tifanee Reeves, who attends Central
School, second place; and Natalie Schaller, also of
Washington-Monroe, third place.
Megan Opperman ,
seventh-grader at Zion Lutheran School in Lincoln, has been selected
as the Zion Lutheran Student of the Month. Megan's ZLS activities
have included honor roll, band, choir, choir chimes, track and
field, and volleyball. Her church and community activities include
Zion Youth Group and Chester 4-H Club. Megan also enjoys baking,
cooking and gardening. Her parents are David and Stephanie Opperman
of rural Lincoln.

We
love to congratulate our young people for academic excellence, and
we have received word from Missouri State University that Kristen
A. Marten of Lincoln made the dean's list for this past
semester. Congratulations to Kristen.
On
June 13, the Cumberland Presbyterian Women's Ministry will
have their rummage sale and bake sale, located in the basement of
the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The church is at the corner of
Broadway and Ottawa, and the event is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
