Democratic state Rep. Mike Boland of East Moline made the statements
Sunday at a news conference in Chicago in response to reports the
university's flagship Urbana-Champaign campus keeps a list of
special-interest applicants who may receive preferential treatment.
Boland says he wants President B. Joseph White and any involved
university trustees to resign. He also wants Gov. Pat Quinn to
appoint a panel to investigate the list because the university
shouldn't investigate itself.
A spokeswoman for the University of Illinois says resignations
aren't expected.
