Barbara Logan has been a nurse at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital for 41 years, and patients continue to recognize her caring nature.

Logan, who has worked in same-day care at ALMH for a decade, was recently honored as June Employee of the Month.

"This employee makes patients' trips enjoyable," a patient wrote in nominating Logan for the recognition. "She's nice, professional, caring and very deserving of this honor." 

Logan, who was raised in Lincoln and now resides in Mount Pulaski, says she has enjoyed working at ALMH because everyone is friendly.

"The staff I work with make work time enjoyable," she adds.

Logan says her day-to-day job is quite busy. She begins each shift by admitting a stream of patients. Her responsibilities include starting IVs, administering shots and enemas, and prepping patients for surgery. She also cares for patients after their operations.

"Whatever needs to be done on the daily do-it," Logan says with a laugh. "You have to make sure you enjoy people."

ALMH employs more than 290 in a wide variety of job functions. A different employee is honored each month for their commitment to creating great patient experiences, getting great results and making ALMH a great place to work.
