[June 11, 2009]  SALINE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- For one man, no good deed went unpunished after he was mugged while stopping to help a female motorist.

The Washtenaw County sheriff's department told The Ann Arbor News and the Detroit Free Press the man stopped his car around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. While attempting to remove a spare tire from the trunk of the distressed vehicle, a man hit him over the head with a bottle.

While the good Samaritan lay prone, he was struck repeatedly with a cord-like object before the man and woman left the scene.

The victim was released the same day from Saline Hospital after being treated for minor head injuries.
