YMCA notes [June 13, 2009]  YMCA swim lesson registrations continue. Don't miss out on the best swim instruction in Lincoln! Regular registration for session A has ended, but children can still sign up with a nominal fee increase until noon June 19. Session B and C registrations are still going strong! Choose from exciting classes for children ages 6 months to 12 years that will teach, refine and encourage them to swim. Water safety is our highest priority! All sessions are two weeks, Monday-Thursday, with both morning and afternoon classes available until filled.

The YMCA Golf Clinic is back for two awesome sessions this summer! Session A registration deadline is fast approaching -- June 22. YMCA golf instructor Jeff Nelson will customize each young golfer's lessons to improve their individual skills. Participants entering kindergarten to eighth grade will enjoy the sport at one of Lincoln and Logan County's premier golf courses, the Lincoln Elks golf range. From the short game to the long, almost every aspect of the sport will be touched upon!

Field Trip Blast is back! YMCA staff members will take the children to a water park for a day of fun in the sun! Please bring a sack lunch, sunblock, water bottle and proper attire for the trip and the return. This program is for second- to fifth-graders and runs from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Drop-off and pickup are at the YMCA Activity Center on Wyatt Avenue. Hurry and sign up NOW as there is space for only 13 children per trip. Here is the list of dates: June 30; July 7, 21; Aug. 4, 11.

Flag football registrations are now being taken! Are you ready for some football? Well, don't blink, because these kids are fast, furious and in your face. Participants from age 4 through second grade will be taught the basic skills, rules and fundamentals of football. Our volunteer coaches will have one practice during the week and a game on Saturday mornings. The program fee will vary; please see or call the office at 735-3915 for details.

Regular registration has ended for the following programs, but you can still sign up: Softball Clinic, for 8-10 years old; session A swim lessons, 6 months-12 years; Atlanta Sports Camp, 5 years-fourth grade; and Storybook Art Camp, first-sixth grade.
