On Saturday,
Lincoln Cub Scout units from the Crossroads District of the W.D.
Boyce Council will participate in Clean Sweep, a nationwide effort
by the Boy Scouts of America to clean up trash in their communities.

The goal in the council area is 10,000 hours of
community service for the effort. The service hours will also count
toward Good Turn for America, a collaboration of volunteer
organizations that has committed nearly 8.5 million hours of service
to their communities over the past few years. The group in Lincoln
will consist of Cub Scout Pack 105 and Cub Scout Pack 111 as well as
family members and other volunteers. Other organizations and the
community are welcome to participate and can join the group Saturday
at the opening flag ceremony at 9 a.m. at Washington-Monroe School.
The Lincoln City Council proclaimed June 20 as "Clean Sweep Day" and
awarded the proclamation to the Scouts at the council meeting on
Monday.
Area businesses, including Kroger, Domino 's,
Subway and Burger King, have contributed to the event with donations
of trash bags, gloves, food and water.
