[June 22, 2009]  (AP)  More hot and humid weather was to stay planted over the central and southeastern U.S. on Monday, with some parts reaching high temperatures in the 100s.

Light to moderate bands of showers and thunderstorms were expected to move northeastward into the upper Mississippi Valley across Minnesota and Wisconsin.

InsuranceMore showers and scattered thunderstorms were to extend along a front stretching southeast to the Georgia coast.

In the West, drier weather was to develop across the Northwest, though pockets of scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms would persist across areas of the northern Intermountain West and the northern Rockies.

Severe weather was possible across the northern Plains and northwestern Iowa.

In the East, scattered showers and thunderstorms were forecast across New England.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Sunday ranged from a low of 32 degrees at Berthoud Pass, Colo., to a high of 102 degrees at New Braunfels, Texas.
