Real estate tax bills going out early next week

[June 25, 2009]  The Logan County treasurer's office will be mailing the 2008 real estate tax bills, payable in 2009, by the end of the week. The first installment is due without a penalty on or before July 30. The second installment will be due without a penalty on or before Sept. 1.

Payment may be made in person at the county treasurer's office, Room 11 in the Logan County Courthouse, or at the Dr. John Logan Building, 122 N. McLean. Drive-up services are available at the 122 N. McLean site. You may also use the Logan County treasurer's drop box in the city lot on North Kickapoo Street, across from Latham Park.

You may pay over the Internet at www.illinoispay.com or phone in to 1-877-ILL-EPAY, (455-3729).

You may also pay at any bank in Logan County.

Instructions are included with the bill.

For unpaid taxes, certified letters will be mailed on Sept. 30. Publication will be on or before Oct. 9. Judgment day is Oct. 19. The annual tax sale will be on Oct. 27 at 10 a.m. in the first-floor courtroom at the courthouse.
