[June 29, 2009]  (AP)  Scattered showers and possible thunderstorms were expected over the northeastern Great Lakes on Monday, leading to rain across the Northeast.

Moisture from the system over the Lakes was forecast to combine with another system off the Northeastern coast to trigger more precipitation.

RestaurantIn the South, unsettling weather is expected to develop along a front from the southern Plains to the Mid-Atlantic Coast. Scattered showers and thunderstorms were expected across Texas and the Gulf Coast.

In the West, moisture from the south was to continue producing scattered showers and possible isolated thunderstorms across areas of New Mexico. Hot and dry weather was to persist across the rest of the West. Cooler temperatures with areas of morning fog were expected along the West Coast.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Sunday ranged from a low of 31 degrees at Stanley, Idaho, to a high of 114 degrees at Needles, Calif.
