The United Way of Logan County
is doing something different this year for their annual fundraiser.
Kicking off with the Heritage Days celebration downtown on Saturday,
July 4, the agency will sell raffle tickets, with the winning ticket
receiving $500 worth of groceries from the Lincoln IGA. The raffle
event will run through July and August, with the winning ticket
being selected at the annual breakfast kickoff on Sept. 14.

The tickets are only $1 each or six for $5, with proceeds going to
help fund next year’s United Way agencies. For the fiscal 2010
year, the agency intends to help support various agencies in our
area: American Red Cross, Boy Scouts of America, W.D. Boyce Council,
Catholic Charities, Christian Child Care, Community Action
Partnership of Central Illinois, Epilepsy Resource Center, Girl
Scouts of Central Illinois, Lincoln/Logan Food Pantry, Lincoln
Pastoral Counseling Services, Logan-Mason Rehabilitation Center, The
Oasis, T.O.U.C.H., United Cerebral Palsy and the YMCA.
Throughout the summer, United Way volunteers will staff locations
at events within the county where individuals will be able to
purchase their chances. You can also contact United Way
administrator Lois Leonard at 735-4499 for more information.
In the ensuing days, United Way will advise the community when
and where tickets will be available for purchase.
