Agriculture futures drop on the CBOT

[March 03, 2009]  CHICAGO (AP) -- Agriculture futures dropped in midday trading Monday on the Chicago Board of Trade.

Wheat for May delivery slid 9 cents to $5.125 a bushel; May corn lost 9.75 cents to $3.4925 a bushel; May oats shed 4.75 cents to $1.8925 a bushel; and May soybeans tumbled 22 cents to $8.50 a bushel.

Meanwhile, beef and pork futures traded lower on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

April live cattle dropped 1.27 cents to 84.65 cents a pound; April feeder cattle shed 1.37 cents to 92.50 cents a pound; April lean hogs lost 0.68 cent to 60.22 cents a pound; and March pork bellies slipped 0.80 cent to 76.90 cents a pound.
