[February 25, 2009]- St. John United Church of Christ in Lincoln held a prelude to the Lenten season Sunday evening with an intergenerational Mardi Gras. Everyone who entered who did not have the ‘proper garb’ were handed necklaces, crowns or hats. A BBQ supper and games filled the evening of fun. As two pinatas were broken youngsters eagerly scrambled for the contents.

HardwareRoyalty crowned were: King: Bill Gosda, Jr.; Queen: Janet Johnson; Prince: Matthew Goetsch and Princess: Lindsey Sanders closed the evening.

St. John Lenten Services will begin with Ash Wednesday service on February 25 at 7:30 p.m. with holy communion and imposition of ashes. Services every Wednesday following this week will be held in Fellowship Hall with a Readers Theater Biblical monologue on the theme: “At The Cross”. This will be followed by reflections on the theme of that evening. Public is invited to participate
