[March 10, 2009]  In this exciting bicentennial year, volunteers could be a part of the one of the major tourist attractions in central Illinois. The Lincoln Heritage Museum at Lincoln College is asking for individuals willing to donate their time to help the staff at the museum. Duties will include explaining and telling stories about the artifacts and documents that are on display.

Lincoln Heritage Museum curator Ron Keller says this opportunity is for someone who enjoys history.

"One of the major requirements of volunteers at the Lincoln Heritage Museum is to possess an enthusiasm and a love for history as well as a willingness to share their knowledge with others," Keller said.

According to Keller, volunteers must have some time flexibility and week availability. The museum is open 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday and 1-4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Workshops will be conducted for people interested in serving as volunteers.

For further information concerning your interest in serving as a volunteer at the Lincoln Heritage Museum, send a letter to Paul E. Gleason, Assistant Curator, Lincoln Heritage Museum, 300 Keokuk St., Lincoln, IL 62656, Attention: Volunteer Program; or you may e-mail to pgleason@lincolncollege.edu. Include your name, address, telephone number or place where you can be contacted.
