[March 12, 2009]  HOLBROOK, Mass. (AP) -- A selectwoman who has missed half of her meetings and hasn't attended one since November said she is running for re-election in 'protest.'

And some town residents don't mind. Selectwoman Katherine Connolly has collected 69 signatures for another three-year term.

She acknowledged Wednesday she should be attending meetings. But the 54-year-old said she's been frustrated at how fellow selectmen handle business and called their meetings "TV shows" that accomplish little.

Connolly, however, said she's needed to expose corruption, even though she said her car's tires have been slashed and she's received harassing phone calls.

Selectman Rick McGaughey said Connolly is making excuses and called her complaints "a figment of her imagination."
